Sarah Palin Opens Up About the Family Moment That Left a Lasting Impression on Her Life…see more

During difficult periods, the concerns that dominate headlines can suddenly seem much less important than the wellbeing of a spouse, child, parent, or close relative.

That is one reason stories about Palin’s family experiences continue to attract attention. Behind the political figure is someone who has repeatedly described herself through the role of wife and mother.

In earlier interviews, Palin spoke openly about how her children’s experiences shaped her worldview and influenced the way she understood challenges faced by other families.

In a 2009 interview, Palin said she did not want her children subjected to even more unwanted public attention and described how their lives had effectively become a kind of reality show.

A Different Kind of Lesson

The experiences Palin has discussed over the years point to a recurring theme: life rarely follows the plan people imagine.
